The World Explorers Club
. Two symposiums per year, one in Illinois, one in Arizona. David Hatcher Childress heads the club. He has written more than 30 books and has published hundreds more. They organize woderful expeditions. I went on the Olmec Oddessy to Central Mexico. Here is our group atop the Pyramid of the Sun. My head is centered in the Pyramid of the Moon in the background.
The Midwest Epigraphic Society
. Epigraphy plus fervent belief in cultural difusion. The annual symposium will occur in October 2010, in Columbus Ohio. Below are MES members struggling through predawn twilight, trying to arrive at Equinox Cave before the first ray of sunrise. The reward is seeing the sun hit a witness mark carved in the rear of the cave. MES has taken recent field trips to Indiana, Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania and of course Ohio.
The Archaeological Society of Ohio
has quarterly meetings with one or two scholarly lectures. Their next big symposium will occur in May of 2010 in Columbus, Ohio.
